It all started at the most unlikely time: June 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Having backgrounds at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), our founders Daniel Welch and Paul Olsen sensed it was the perfect time to shake things up and shift away from the traditional accounting firm model. Our method is more personalized and tailored to each individual business.
Our goal at Welch Olsen is to simplify and streamline the financial and business operations of our small and medium business owner clients, empowering them with insights so they have all the information and context they need to grow their business and find peace-of-mind while doing so. We combine our tailored services with our passion for educating, often conducting free seminars on subjects like tax strategies and bookkeeping. Our ultimate aspiration is to inform, support, and empower our clients.

Daniel Welch, CPA
Co-Founder & Partner
Daniel is enthusiastic about helping small business owners keep more of the money they worked hard to earn. He is an industry leader in tax planning for small businesses.
Daniel earned his master’s degree in accounting with a tax emphasis from Brigham Young University. He began his career at PwC in Dallas, Texas specializing in international tax planning. He realized quickly that he was less interested in navigating complex rules for large multinational corporations, and instead wanted to focus his energy on helping real people.
Daniel is married, with five children. They live on a small homestead with a large garden and animals including chickens, goats, turkeys, bunnies, dogs, cats, and one duck named “Duckter Strange”. He is a triathlon “beginner” with a goal of one day completing a full Ironman. He is convinced that consistent ice baths will get him there.
Paul Olsen, CPA
Co-Founder & Partner
Paul’s journey began at Brigham Young University (BYU), where he not only tackled numbers but also tackled opponents on the football field. His professional adventure started at PwC, where he honed his financial expertise and gained invaluable experience. His favorite compliment he receives is, "He doesn't seem like the 'average' accountant."
Outside of his career, Paul lives a fulfilling life as a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart and father of five children. When he's not coaching a football game, attending a dance recital, or serving in the community, you'll find him on the back of a horse, lost in the mountains, enjoying the outdoors, or struggling to finish another marathon in the Clydesdale division.
Paul is not here to just crunch numbers; he's here to break stereotypes. He's passionate about helping individuals and businesses navigate the financial landscape in a way that's approachable and relatable.
